sketches of singapore

just one year ago, i brought the whole sec1 cohort students for an outdoor drawing session at the esplanade. looking over the water, at the skyscrapers..

i can't help but to feel the urge to sit down with them and draw too.
the 4 drawings are what I came back with.
1 drawing per day.
each drawing took approx. 30-40 minutes...
couldn't really remember clearly as students were asking me questions time to time.

the first drawing shows the elegant Fullerton hotel..
and truth be told, even after years of training in the arts...
this was my first time drawing with a pen.
i was terrified. but together with my students, i try..
and im pleasantly surprised by myself.

the 2nd day i did brought another class there..
and also sat down to attempt a pen drawing after experiencing it the first time the day b4.

this was a building under construction.. i dont know whats this building called.
the last time i headed to the same area, it was completed already!

the third day..
growing to like drawing with pen...
although it is kinda scary to put down the first mark..
but once that's over, everything will be great.

im amazed at artists who does everything with pen.
gotta be real confident and have the ability to cover up mistakes. hahaha ;x

this drawing... nope its not the control tower you see at Changi..
this architectural structure is located near the Merlion..
yes it does looks like it can be rotated.. but no it cant.
:)

the last day of the programme...
i drew this with my students.
i drew this building that was on my right.. (i was seated at the outdoor amphi-theatre)..

alright this is a brief sum up of my outdoor sketches at Esplanade..
looking forward to plan more outdoor drawings..
with students or not.
